It reminds me of when Nareth clenched his clawed fist and the realistic thing actually happened; it never does in other situations like that. It’s small details like this that show that you are actually thinking about how Botheri anatomy affects things in ways that human anatomy cannot, and vice versa, instead of just treating them like 100% human substitutes of a different race.
That’s something that’s always bugged me about stories with non-human characters. If you never make use of their inhuman characteristics, then there’s no real reason not to just make them human. There’s so many creative ways to use different abilities, I can only scratch the surface! It’s disappointing when creators don’t make use of those differences. I try to take that into consideration myself when I present the world and I’m really glad it paid off in making the world a bit more immersive.
