I only now realized exactly the problem with the accusation. Now he’ll be sent to jail… I mean they couldn’t kill him in either case, but they might have made the case that he was a runaway slave or owed them money, or somthing (again don’t know where on the timeline they are, so that makes it a bit difficult.)
But now that he’s confessed to a crime as serious as murder, there will have to be a trial, thus he’d have to be arrested. And they can’t persue it or else, they risk their own crimes being brought into the light.
